2013 Digi Project Life | Week 34 (Reason #507 why I love digi scrapping)

We were out of town this weekend and we had a 2-1/2 hour ride in the car this afternoon to get home. I used that time in the car to scrap this week's Project Life pages. I do so love digi scrapping! I'm going to call scrapping in the car Reason #507 why I love digi scrapping!

My DD's Middle School Mission Trip

My daughter went on her first mission trip this summer. She loved it! As soon as she got home she said she wanted to go again next summer. We were so proud of her!

Project Life How To | Using Screenshots (on Mye De Leon’s blog)

I don’t know if I shared this or not, but last month Mye De Leon asked me to join her Project Life creative team! I LOVE Mye’s amazing designs so of course I told her I’d be absolutely thrilled to join her team! Well, in addition to joining her Project Life team, I also wrote a Project Life post today for her blog. I gave a bunch of ideas for using screenshots on your Project Life (scrapbook) pages. When I was looking through my Project Life pages this year for a couple samples to include on her blog I realized just how often I do use screenshots to complete my pages. They’re so fun to use!

I’d love you to go check out my post on Mye’s blog here! I gave a long list of ideas to use!

Here are a couple of samples I used on her pages:

Believe it or not, this digi girl made a hybrid project (a composition notebook)

Believe it or not, this 100% digi girl made a hybrid project. I know. Weird, huh? I keep seeing such great hybrid projects in the galleries and on Pinterest that I thought I'd give it a try. I made something simple ... a composition notebook. It was kinda fun, although it did require me to do a lot of sifting through my old paper scrapping supplies for Xyron tape and pop dots! What do you think? Does it make you other digi crafters want to give hybrid a try? Short of the tape and pop dots I used all digi supplies. The only other issue for me was that my printer doesn't print, so my fix was to print at Costco on photo paper. I didn't know how photo paper would work but it was just fine!

Here's my attempt at taking a decent photo of the finished product:

Here's a digi version so you can see colors more realistically:

Softball | Play Ball!

One last page for me tonight and I'm off to bed. Everyone was off doing their thing tonight so that left me and the pup sitting around so I thought I'd do a little scrapbooking. I might as well be productive (and creative!) right?!

A lot of times I have a hard time scrapping sports themed pages. I'm not sure why. Maybe it's the variety of photos. Who knows. This time was different. I enjoyed putting this page together. Robyn Meierotto released an awesome baseball themed kit a couple weeks ago and I knew I'd use it for my daughter's softball season. There were so many awesome things in this kit, it was fun to scrap a sports page! Ahh ... maybe this means all sport themed pages will go together easily from now on. Wishful thinking, I know!

A lovely day for a pontoon ride (Cedar Point Resort, North Star Lake)

We were up north last weekend and the weather was beautiful. On Saturday, while the husbands were out golfing, my sister took us out for a pontoon ride. As you can see, it was beautiful.

We see loons on the lake all the time. I love them! This is the first time I have ever seen one catch and eat a fish. I even got photos of it. It was awesome. Besides catching the fish, we watched it feed it's baby. How cool is that?!

Senior Photo Shoot

Two of my nieces and a friend of theirs (a really sweet girl who I hadn't met before) came through town last week to do some shopping, to hang out with my daughter, and for me to snap some photos. It was a lot of fun having them here. Imagine a house with four girls between the age and 13 and 18 (almost 19) - it's busy! In July I had taken some senior photos for my niece and she hoped to have some more photos taken in a city setting. Great idea! Having an idea what she might be looking for, a couple days before they arrived my husband and I went to downtown Minneapolis and scouted out a few good spots. We knew parking wouldn't be fun so my husband, being the great guy that he is, drove us downtown and then drove around so that we could just take photos and not worry about the car. Our very own limo driver. How awesome is that?!

Since our group consisted of four teenage girls, while we did take a couple of senior-type photos, we focused more on getting just plain fun shots of the girls. What a fun night! I was going to scrap just two pages, but I had so many photos I liked that I just had to scrap two more pages of extra photos. You can't have too many photos, right?!

2013 Digi Project Life | Week 32 (Where do you get your photos?)

Another week of Project Life. Can you believe we're 32 weeks into 2013 already? I don't realize quite how fast time is going by until I create my PL page for the week and I see what week we're I'm up to. Kinda silly, but that week number (it's not on my page but it's a naming convention I use when I create my PL pages) tells me where we're at.

We had a great week. Everyone in my family did. We were all off doing our own thing this week ... my daughter was off on a middle school mission trip with church, my son stayed at my in-laws house helping with projects, and my husband and I stayed home and enjoyed some nights on the town. At the end of the week we met up and spent the weekend together "up north" with the family. Us being in different places meant I had to source my photos from several places but that worked. My inlaws sent me photos, I used a few phone photos, I got an image from the internet for one of the restaurants we went to, I got the chicken photo from my niece's phone. I got photos from several places. Sometimes we Project Lifers have to do that. When we're documenting the lives of several people we can't be everywhere at once, right?! I'm wondering, where do some of you find some of your PL photos when you may not have images available from your own camera?

FYI, I loved the kit I used for this week's pages. In case you're wondering, it's a kit from Mye De Leon called The Good Life. Mye is a guest designer this month at The Lillypad and you can pick up The Good Life there!

Another Then/Now page ... (wedding | 25th anniversary | 50th anniversary)

Have you noticed I like to scrap pages comparing photos from different time periods? I think it's so fun, especially for this kind of then/now page! I think it's so cool to see a photo of the inlaws on their wedding day next to photos of them 25 years later and then again now when they're with their grownup kids (who are all well in their 40s). Hmmm ... I have a photo of the entire clan (with grandkids and inlaws - that's me!) that I took (actually that the photographer we hired took). Maybe I should do some kind of comparison for that photo too!

A favorite photo (50th anniversary celebration)

This past May we celebrated my in-laws 50th wedding anniversary. It was such a fun event at a club in Duluth. I'm going to create more pages from this event, but this particular photo was one of my favorites from the evening! Just a bunch of cool guys! ...

I've been on a scrapping roll ... (Germany | Cedar Point | Choir Concert)

I've been on a scrapping roll yesterday and today. I had a flat tire in my car so I couldn't go to work so I used my time to scrap! I'd like to share a couple of pages with you. I don't think I'm going to have much time to scrap the next few days (except probably my weekly Project Life pages), so I'll post again when I've got pages to share!

#1 - WANDER - I've got my vacation album back from Blurb with my full vacation photos/memories/stories. Now I'm looking forward to choosing just a few photos here and there to represent our trip in my annual family album! This is a photo I took of my son when we were wandering the streets of Dinkelsbuhl. It was misting a bit so we had our umbrellas out and I just love this photo of him!

#2 - DON'T STOP THE MUSIC - You can't tell from the photos, but these are a couple random images I (and my husband) took at my daughter's choir concert in May. I didn't get any good shots of the concert itself, but I liked these photos!

A Super {Silly} Dad | Scrapping the Little Moments of Life

One more quick page this afternoon...

Quick question ... we all scrap the big events of life, but how about the teeny tiny little things? Not all the little things of course, but how about the little things that make your family laugh? That's what I scrapped with this page. I love this moment between my husband and my daughter that I captured a few weeks ago. My husband likes to tease my kids - and my daughter in particular - that he's going to leave the house in black socks and shorts. It's an ongoing thing. My daughter absolutely hates that look. She is mortified that he's actually going to leave the house like that (he isn't!) and that he'll run into someone who knows her. How embarrassing would that be for her? LOL! They're pretty entertaining I must say!

Cousins | Then & Now (1978-2013) (... Make Lemonade)

Ahh ... when life gives you lemons, make lemonade! That's what they say, right?! I was heading out to work this morning. I pulled my car out of the garage and it felt "funny." I thought I'd better stop and take a look-see. I was right. There was something "funny." I don't think that funny is actually the right choice of words though. I had a flat tire. Not the end of the world obviously, but it did change my plans for the day. Upon more detailed examination I could see a screw in one of my front tires. I decided it was Friday, maybe I should have a long weekend. I decided to spend the day at home. That's the part where I "made lemonade!"

My son had a friend over last night and they were going to hang out all day gaming while I was at work. (My daughter spent the night at a friend's house.) I'm pretty sure that my hanging out at home all day wasn't in their plans, but hey, what do you do? I said I was making lemonade; not that I was making lemonade for others. My dog liked me being home. I took her for a walk and I made the boys take her for a walk too. (That's was the time when my son mentioned that when I said I was staying home I said I would let them do their thing and not "bug them." I agreed, but I said that they still had to walk the dog.) LOL!

ANYWAY ... since I stayed home I decided to do a little scrapbooking. Here's a page I put together today:

Click | Photos | Capture | Life (Scrapping with Styles)

I've been really hooked on scrapping with Karla Dudley's word art lately. They're just so fun! I used a couple (three) different sets from Karla on this page (for the thought balloons and for the title). Also, have you scrapped with styles? I don't often use styles except of course for my shadowing and beveling. I tried something new tonight and I loved it. Mommyish has a Kraft/chipboard style out at Pixels & Co. I loaded the action and with a simple click of a button I made Karla's Click | Photos | Capture | Life word art into chipboard. How fun is that? I'm definitely going to be on the lookout for more styles!

FYI, these are photos I took over the 4th of July. Three of my cousins had spent the week at the resort and so when we were up for the long weekend we got to hang out. It was great catching up!! I'm definitely feeling the need to scrap a couple of pages from the weekend. I've got one or two more pages in mind to scrap one of these days.

Roasting donuts over a bonfire

You've most likely roasted marshmallows over a bonfire to make yummy s'mores. Well ... have you ever tried roasting donuts over a bonfire? If not ... you really should. They're delish. At my sister's resort in northern Minnesota (Cedar Point Resort), they have group bonfires a couple times a week. One of those nights they roast donuts over the fire. Geez ... they're so good. You just roast them until they're warm and then roll them in cinnamon sugar and you've got a yummy dessert! And ... if you're roasting your donuts with family like I did, it's even better!
