Mommyish and Just Jaimee released their new Real Life in Pockets | Besties kit today. I had a blast with it and created 4 PL pages and 2 more other scrapbook pages (which I'll share in another post). RLIP is always so fun!

December Traditions | Feeling Nostalgic

I had an idea to make a couple pages for my December album to showcase photos of my kids when they were little. Oh my. As I glanced through old photos I felt incredibly nostalgic.  I enjoyed myself so much! So, to share the joy I experienced, I included as many old photos on these pages as I could. I don't think there's any need to tell a story about a particular photo - just look and remember and smile!

December Traditions | Catch Up! (adding some REALLLLLY old photos!)

I'm taking a look through the pages I've created for my December album and am thinking about what else I want to include. I decided to include a page of old photos from when my husband was a kid and my Christmas card wall ... because I LOVE my Christmas card wall during the month of December.

Christmas decorations are going down today so that means the next project will be to design a cover for my Christmas card book. I love that there's always a project on the horizon!

December Traditions | New Years Eve & catching up!

We're having a quiet Saturday (and I'm putting off taking down Christmas decorations until tomorrow) so I'm making a dent in my December/Christmas traditions album. My goal is to get this book sent off to print at Blurb this week too so I can get it back in my hands and check it out IRL! I can't wait!

(By the way ... I have no idea why the above photo appears so brown. It's got a grey background like the rest. That's so odd!

December Traditions | Gingerbread House & Pinterest

I've got a couple more additions to my December traditions album. My book is moving  right along!

Lauren's Sweet Creations | Gingerbread House journaling reads:
Lauren was excited to make ginger- bread houses in her German class today. She teamed up with her friends Madison Swanson, Emily Frazier and Emma Swanson. Isn't the house and winter scene they made adorable? I wish she could have taken it home! Lauren was in charge of making the Christmas trees (she frosted ice cream cones). Didn’t they turn out pretty?! I love the added touch of powdered sugar and coconut snow!

Pinteresting journaling reads:
Pinterest is an awesome source of inspiration for Christmas ideas (and all year long). * A “PIN” inspired me to browse through old family photos and use them as gift tags. Looking at the wrapped gifts under our tree this year is like looking at an old family photo album. It’s so awesome! * A couple years ago a PIN inspired me to create a book every year with all the Christmas cards we get. Too bad I saw the idea DAYS after I threw out years of Christmas cards. Ugh! * A PIN inspired me to snap photos of people from their Christmas cards to use as contact photos on my iPhone. * I showed Scott the PIN of a photo of a family on their devices as an idea for a Christmas card. I didn’t end up using the idea, but my friend Ann Marie did! * And, of course Lauren and I frequently use recipes we find on Pinterest. * Who knows what else we’ll come up with before the season is over! It’s fun, fun stuff!

Here's a little FYI for you. I discovered and started pinning on Pinterest shortly after it was launched in 2010. I later introduced Pinterest to my nieces (who had never heard of it before) and now they’re completely hooked too. I’m going to call myself the cool aunt. Wink. Wink. lol!

December Traditions - It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

It's been a few days since I've made a page for my December traditions album. We've had sickness in the house (and just when I thought we were done with sickness my son came down with a stomach bug today). Anyway ... that means we haven't done a whole lot of Christmas-y stuff to include in my album. Finally tonight I set up the tripod and snapped a photo of the living room. I knew I wanted to have a full page photo of the heart of our Christmas ... the living room. I'm really happy with the way it turned out. It's not a perfect photo, but I was able to talk cheerfully with our adorable dog the entire time the photo was being exposed and I even got her to stay put, so I'm happy!

This weekend we'll do some baking, etc. so I'll have more pages I can make. I'm thinking I may even include recipes on my pages. I'm excited!

Anyway ... I just thought I'd share ...

I hope you're all having a joyous Christmas season!

December Traditions - Watching Home Alone and memories of my dad

My December traditions album wouldn't be complete if I didn't talk about the movie Home Alone. We always watch that movie over the Christmas season. It's most definitely a family favorite. Besides being a side-splitting, hilarious movie, it also brings back memories of my dad. I always remember how much my Dad laughed when we were watching Home Alone the last Christmas we spent together back in 2004. So now whenever I watch the movie I always think of him and that makes me happy!

December Traditions/Favorites - Kids' Art Wall

I've kept my kids Christmas art projects since they were babies. They're 18 and 15 years old now and these projects mean even more to me now. I absolutely LOVE the whole process of hanging up all of these projects in my hallway and looking at them whenever I pass by. It's definitely a big part of the Christmas season (and December in general) so I wanted to include it in my December traditions album!

December Traditions: Favorite Childhood Christmas Memory

I'm enjoying making my December book as a traditions book this year! I made this page about a favorite childhood Christmas memory of mine ... now I want to see if my husband has a memory he can share and that I can put on a page too! Maybe I'll include a page from my kids when they were little too. Hmmm ... I have to put some thought into this!

Until the next page ...

December Traditions: Fontanini Nativity

I stayed home from work today. My teenage daughter is sick and I decided that I don't have that much more time that I'll get to hang out and take care of my kids when they're sick so I stayed home with her.  I'm so glad that I did. It meant I had time to chat with her AND time to be creative and work on my December book. Nice!

On a side note ... I was watching Frosty the Snowman with my daughter and she told me that she had wondered why I stayed home with her because she would have been fine alone, but she said that she was really glad I stayed with her. Yay! :)

December Traditions: Favorite Mugs

Gifts that make someone smile and think happy thoughts of a person every single time they're used have got to be the best gifts, right?!

These mugs make me so happy ... I knew they HAD to have their own page in my traditions/favorites book!

December Traditions Album ... 3 more pages!

I've got 3 more pages to share for my December traditions album. I've got 5 pages done already. I'm feeling pretty good about it. I'm keeping it simple and I think that's always a good plan when trying to put together an entire album in a month!

I've used a few miscellaneous elements on these pages but for for the vast majority of it I'm sticking with Mye De Leon's Merriment and Peppermint Winter Collections. They have such a great color scheme!

Happy Sunday everyone!

2014 December Traditions Album (the designing of a Christmas Card & Favorite Childhood Song)

Happy December! I started my December album tonight. It feels good to get it started. The first page or two are always the most challenging for me. This year I'm approaching my December album more as a traditions/favorites/observations kind of album and not so much a page-a-day kind of album that I've made in the past. My plan is to make pages as I think of topics I want to include. (I have created a list on my phone so I can jot ideas down as they come to me.) It's all about flexibility this year! I'm taking Traci Reed Designs' My Digital December class at Scrapaneers so I'm relying on the class to help me with prompts, ideas and inspiration.

FYI, I'm going to use various items for this album but for the most part, to keep it simple and consistent, I'll focus mainly on using Mye De Leon's Merriment and Peppermint Winter Collections.

Have I ever mentioned that I love Google? My favorite childhood Christmas song is Morris the Moose from this old Peppermint Candy Kids album - yes album. I wanted to include the lyrics and the album cover. I couldn't take a photo of the album cover because my sister has the album so I did a Google search and was able to come up an image of the album cover AND someone had typed up the lyrics. It's like it was meant to be don't you think?

Are you doing December Daily or some version thereof? Link me up in the comments if you are ... I'd love to check out your pages for inspiration!!
