A forgotten birthday page! (blast from our past)
Here's a blast from my past. I was looking through old photos and my son's scrapbooks and realized I had never scrapped a page about my son's 14th birthday - so of course I wanted to do that now! I also realized that I've got lots of memories I haven't scrapped from a few years ago that I may want to go back to some day. Ahh ... there's always something to scrap!

Girls Just Want To Have Fun (Volleyball Car Wash)
I had some quiet time home alone when I got home this afternoon so of course I had to use it to scrap. I certainly didn't feel like cleaning the house. That just wouldn't fit the title of this page ... "Girls Just Want To Have Fun!" LOL!

Project Life | Week 10
Time for another installment of Project Life. I used all digi goodness from Pixels & Co. for my week. A couple things to note …
1. I always love Karla Dudley's Life 365 kit. It's a "go to" kind of kit for me.
2. This is the first time I've used Simply Tiffany's pocket journal card templates. I.LOVE.THEM! Seriously. I can't tell you enough how awesome I think they are! I'll definitely use them a lot!
3. Mye De Leon's Scripted Journal Cards (with the brushwork Be In Love With Your Life and Just Be You cards) are so dang cool!

Our family day at the Minnesota Zoo
It was a beautiful (albeit a bit cool) day here in Minnesota yesterday. We decided to spend a family day at the Minnesota Zoo. It was so much fun. My son actually was the one who suggested we go - so who could pass that invitation up? It has been years since I'd been to the Zoo. The kids were a lot younger the last time we went as a family, so it was so different going with teenagers. Much quicker ... but definitely fun. Since we had such a good time I wanted to put the photos together quickly. So ... here we go ...

You'll always be my little boy | My son driving cars - then & now
For me one of the fun things about scrapping is scrapping new photos right alongside old photos. I think it's so fun to see the change over time. (OK, lets be real ... showing the change in the KIDS over time is fun; showing MY changes over the last ten or so years isn't nearly as fun for me! LOL!) I love the photos I used on this page of my son as a little guy! He was always into cars and trucks and construction vehicles. He was crazy about them when he was little. I still have an ratty old paperback book that I read to him all the time when he was little. I pulled it out and showed it to him a month or so ago. He thought it was really odd that I could still read big chunks of the book by memory. {I'm sure he didn't think it was weird. I'm sure he was amazed by me. LOL! I can tell myself whatever I want, right!} ... "I'm a rattle tattle dump truck. I am rough and I am tough ..." (I could go on, but I won't!)
My son is 16 years old and driving now. (He's a good driver!) I thought it would be fun to scrap a photo of him driving off (he was actually coming home in this photo) with these old photos. I told him I needed a shot of him driving the car. He had gone to the grocery store for me and came back, but when he came back his car was facing the wrong direction for the way I wanted to take the picture. I asked if he'd be willing to turn the car around for me so I could get a photo of him going the other way. What a nice kid ... he of course did that for his mom. I love this kid. He understands the importance of pictures - and of making his mom happy!

In Honor of Mother's Day | Two pages - 1971 & practically today
I created two - yup, 2, Mom-related pages using the same kit ... Scotty Girl Design released a beautiful kit today in honor of Mother's Day. It's called More than Just Mom and it's so spring-y and cheerful. For the first page I created I knew right away the photo I wanted to scrap with it. It's a photo taken at my first Communion in 1971 and it's of me, my sisters and my mom. Is that weird that I knew a particular photo I wanted to use from 40+ years ago? I don't think so! OK, maybe it is. Ha!
Now ... if I'd get on the ball and have even more heritage/childhood photos scanned I'd have even more photos to choose from. (Lately I've been enjoying scrapping some old photos! Could this be a new trend for me? Scrapping the "today" photos one day and the next old photos?!) Hmmm ... I'll get to scanning again one of these days!
Oh ... aren't the dresses we're wearing adorable? My mom made all of our dresses back then. She worked full time AND she made our clothes. How in the world did find time to do all that?!
For my second page using this kit (and Tiffany's newest Modern Masters collection) I wanted to scrap photos I took a couple weeks ago of my daughter's manicure. She's been growing her nails and when she and I were out shopping she bought some super cute nail polish. Of course that meant as soon as we got home it was time for a manicure. I love the attitude she shows in these photos so of course I needed to document it on a page!

Hello Springtime! (May Company Stash @ Pixels & Co.)
I think spring has finally sprung and I couldn't be more thrilled!! I'm hoping it's FINALLY goodbye Winter!
It's the first of the month so it's time for another monthly "Company Stash" collection of digi kits at Pixels and Company. I do so love the colors this month! I used a couple kits from May's "Stash" to create this page using photos I took this week of my daughter taking advantage of the first beautiful spring day. This page was created using a "Now That's Sweet" template from Simply Tiffany, Spring Sweetness papers and elements from Mommyish and Spring Sweetness elements by Just Jaimee. I love the colors - I'm going to go look through my photos to hopefully scrap another page using these kits!

The Story ... Controlled Chaos
I put these pages together earlier this week. I created them for a new release from Simply Tiffany Studios coming out on Friday at Pixels and Co. She's got some simply awesome dual page templates that she's releasing. I love multi photo pages so they're perfect for me! Check 'em out!!
I snapped these photos of my kids a week or so ago. They were being wild and crazy chasing each other around the house and I eventually sent them outside to continue the chase. I loved watching them run around and laugh. They're quite entertaining I must say!

2013 Calendar (yes indeed, I'm making a calendar in April!)
I bet I know what you're thinking. What in the heck is she doing? It's the end of April and she's making a 2013 calendar NOW. Weird. Well, it was totally a spur of the moment thing. I was getting ready to head out of the house for work this morning and as I walked past the kitchen desk and into the mudroom I thought that there was some space on the wall where I had two 8-1/2x11 calendars hung up last year and that is just bare. It needed something and all of a sudden it bugged me. So ... I decided to throw together this quick year at a glance calendar.
It's going to serve a couple of purposes. #1 It will fill that space that was practically screaming at me saying "Hang Something Here NOW!" AND #2 it will give us a quick glimpse of the family as we walk by the kitchen desk and into the mudroom. See ... makes total sense, right?
Besides, this is a 16x20 calendar and it's only $6 to print at Costco. Makes even more sense, right! LOL!
Credits:
For this calendar I used Simply Tiffany Studio's Year at a Glance Calendar Posters and Robyn Meirerotto's Lucky papers and elements. Easy peasy. I put it together in about an hour. Cool!

A Gamer's Life ... A flipped page. What do you think? Which is better?
OK, so I posted this page last night but after I finished it and went to bed I was thinking about it and I wasn't sure that I liked that my kids were so visibly pointing/looking to the right and all the weight of the page was on the right. I wondered if it almost felt like they were looking off the page. I decided to try flipping the page. But then again, maybe not. Any thoughts? Which way do you think feels better/more right?
I'm torn. Ahh ... such important decisions. If only all of life's decisions were this unimportant! But still ... I care!!
Here's my new version:

A Gamer's Life
My son has been a gamer for a long time. Everyone knows it’s his favorite pastime. My daughter on the other hand has absolutely no interest in gaming. She’d rather bake and decorate a cake. My son thinks it would be fun if they could game together sometime so he’s been offering to teach her how to play COD on the PS3 for a while now. She always says thanks but no thanks. While I’m totally ok that she’s not a gamer, I do think it would be fun if they could game together sometimes, and I love that he wants to play with his sister!
Today was different. When my son asked my daughter to play, she said yes! He was a patient teacher and she, I think, enjoyed playing with her big brother. I’m glad they gave it a try!
FYI, in case you’re wondering, my daughter didn’t turn into a gamer. She hasn't played since.
