Travel the World | Dusseldorf Weinachtsmarkt

For the past several years my husband has spent a week in Germany in mid-November for a medical show. During his time there my uncle Andreas and cousin Reinhold have always met him in Dusseldorf and they’ve spent an afternoon visiting, having lunch and wandering around the city. My husband's stay has always coincided with the start of Weihnachtsmarkt so it’s a great kickoff to the Christmas season!

Einstein?! (my awesome uncle!) New Release from Wishing Well Creations

Good morning and happy Friday! It's new release day at Pixels & Company and I used a newly released template set (Stitched Down Vol. 4) by Wishing Well Creations for this page. I just took a peek at the four different Stitched Down template sets Laura has released and it looks like I've used several from each set. They're without a doubt some of my favorite templates!

As for these fun photos ... my Uncle Andreas is an awesome guy and I could simply not pass up scrapping this hilarious (at least to me!) Einstein photo! He's so funny and knowledgeable and an all around entertaining guy!

A Place of Beauty | Heiligenhaus Germany

I scrapped this page together this morning (the last day of our spring break vacation) as I relaxed in a cabin watching the ice shift on Lake Superior. With such a beautiful view in front of me, it seemed like scrapping photos from a beautiful place would be a fitting activity!

OOOH … I just got a happy email. I got a Gallery Standout for my Dusseldorf Wheel of Vision ferris wheel page I created last night. I'm so stinking excited!

Just for fun, here's a link to the GSO!

What a fun (and quick) page to put together! I loved using Jennifer Valencia's retro photo actions for the photos!

Another thing I love … when I'm able to blow up and use iPhone photos for full page backgrounds! How'd we survive without our iPhones before?

A visit to Hitler's Eagle's Nest in the Berchtesgaden Alps, Germany

I finished my vacation album from this summer's Germany vacation months ago but I still want to create a few pages from this huge family vacation for our 2013 family album. Here and there, as the mood strikes me, I create a page. This afternoon the mood struck and I created this quick page from our visit to the Berchtesgaden Alps. I got so many fabulous pictures that day, it was really difficult to cut it down to just a few! I had to keep reminding myself that I've got the vacation album for all the real details of the trip.

8x8 Photo Book - Family Memories | Summer 2013

What's a gal to do when she gets a coupon for a free photobook and she's only got a couple of days before the coupon expires? Why throw together an album of course!

A friend offered me coupon for a free Shutterfly book this week so I decided I'd put together an album of some of our favorite summer memories. The coupon expires today so I had to get moving! I really like theme albums to coordinate so I decided to use a template/style from Splendid Fiins throughout the pages. Since it's a book of random, fun summer memories I decided to stick with Splendid Fiins product for the entire album since her stuff is just so darn much fun!  I'd love to share my album with you!

Now I just need to wait to get the book back! I hate waiting by the way! I know. Patience! (NOTE ... all credits list at the end of this post.)

ANOTHER NOTE ... I just hit "Order" on my Shutterfly book. Apparently I didn't read the fine print. When my billing address matched a billing address I've used before on another Shutterfly account (my home address), I was told me I was not eligible to use the coupon. Darn! Oh well ... now I really like this book and I want it so I'm ordering it anyway!

A City Girl At Heart - Traveling to Munich, Germany

Hmm ... it's Friday night. The hubby is on his way home from a business trip, my son is gaming online with his friends and my daughter and I went jeans shopping and I bought her a couple pairs of jeans and then she and I settled in to watch some TV together. TV time means that I scrap and watch TV (if I don't, it's guaranteed that I'll fall asleep and not see the show!). Well, now I just finished up a page! I just looked across the room and my daughter is sound asleep in the chair. I guess maybe she should have had a laptop out too! I guess the first full week of school has tuckered her out!

Anyway ... I love this photo I took of my daughter when we were on vacation in Munich this past June! It needed to take center stage on this page!

Onto a scrappy topic ... Gennifer Bursett just released a gorgeous new "Indian Summer" kit at Pixels & Co. It's a great kit with beautiful soft colors and some great wood-styled papers. I immediately thought it would be good for this photo/memory!

I've been on a scrapping roll ... (Germany | Cedar Point | Choir Concert)

I've been on a scrapping roll yesterday and today. I had a flat tire in my car so I couldn't go to work so I used my time to scrap! I'd like to share a couple of pages with you. I don't think I'm going to have much time to scrap the next few days (except probably my weekly Project Life pages), so I'll post again when I've got pages to share!

#1 - WANDER - I've got my vacation album back from Blurb with my full vacation photos/memories/stories. Now I'm looking forward to choosing just a few photos here and there to represent our trip in my annual family album! This is a photo I took of my son when we were wandering the streets of Dinkelsbuhl. It was misting a bit so we had our umbrellas out and I just love this photo of him!

#2 - DON'T STOP THE MUSIC - You can't tell from the photos, but these are a couple random images I (and my husband) took at my daughter's choir concert in May. I didn't get any good shots of the concert itself, but I liked these photos!

My Germany Vacation Album is Off to Print at Blurb!!

You may have noticed that I’ve been pretty quiet on my blog for the last couple of weeks. We went on a big family vacation to Germany the last two weeks in June and since I’ve been back I’ve been intently working on completing an album for our trip. I’ve been really focused! Well, I’ve done it. I’ve completed all the pages to my book and I'm sending it off to print at BLURB tonight. (It’s a 12x12 book BTW.) Can I say I’m excited?! I’m so anxious to get this book back in my hands. So is my family and my mom who went on this trip with us! Sure, it’s fun to work on pages, but it’s even more fun to have the physical book in hand don’t you think?! I didn’t want to print out regular photos so that’s why I really wanted to get this book done quickly. I want to be able to share photos of our trip!

Before I share my pages, I wanted to mention that my family was a help in giving me ideas for additional pages to add towards the end of the book.I added a "We're not in Kansas anymore" page showing some of the things that were different over there; places we stayed; different modes of transportation; a compilation page of all the castles we saw (my hubby's idea), and four pages of photos of the four - or five - of us (my daughter's idea). Also, my daughter, my husband and my son each helped proof the book after I was done. I appreciated the help looking for typos and crazy lost staples! I also like that in reading the journaling they suggested additional stories for me to include on the pages. It was their trip too … I’m happy to add in memories I may not have thought of!

So, without further chatting, here are the pages to my book. It turned into quite a large book. Two weeks in such an amazing place makes for lots of photos! (I’ll include a list of credits after the photos.)

I kept my book fairly simple. I didn’t want to include many embellishments. I wanted it to mostly be photos and the story. The supplies I did use on these pages were pretty classic type items and included:

Karla Dudley’s Stamp Press Photos brushes
Audrey Neal Instaframes Vol. 1
Karla Dudley’s staples
Jennifer Valencia Photography’s Photography Quotes Wordart Sets 1 and 2
Scotty Girl Design’s Walt’s Park Elements
Nancy Rowe Janitz’s Textured Overlays (PDQ Vol. 9, 10 and 11)
Nancy Rowe Janitz’s This Day Brushes (date Stamp brushes)
Katie Pertiet’s Stitched Journaler Strips No. 2
Carina Gardner’s Well Traveled brushes
