End of Summer Party

Lauren's Sweet Shoppe Business Card

As anyone close to me knows, Lauren absolutely LOVES to bake. She's been baking fabulous desserts for years and for some time now we've shared those desserts with friends and family. ... I can't even imagine how much we'd all weigh if we ate all those desserts on a regular basis! :)

Lauren has wanted to see if she could start a neighborhood business where she makes desserts for people. What a fun idea! Well, my friend Silvia has told her on several occasions that she'd like to hire her to make a cake for her some time and you know what ... she did! We went to a surprise birthday party this weekend and Silvia hired Lauren to make her deep dark chocolate cheesecake. It was a hit! Oh my gosh, I can't tell you how delicious this cheesecake was!

Lauren had made a chocolate cake as a gift for Silvia for her birthday party a while back. That cake was a hit too. Silvia suggested that Lauren might want to make a little flyer to put by the cake in case anyone wanted to hire her. Well ... it's official ... Lauren put together a 4x6 photo "business card" to hand out at the party and to those interested in hiring her. What fun!

As you can probably tell, I'm pretty proud of Lauren!

P365 - Week 4: January 22 - January 28, 2012 (+ a birthday party!)

And, in keeping with my new plan for this year to throw in additional pages for random events, here's a second page commemorating a surprise birthday party we went to on Saturday.

A happy surprise!

I thought I’d share my excitement. My recent soccer page got chosen as a Gallery Standout on the Gallery Standouts Fingerpointing blog yesterday (January 29th). What a nice surprise! It made my day! I think I was lucky enough to have one of my layouts chosen once or twice before. It’s so fun! Try as I might I couldn’t remember what layout(s) was/were chosen then. I wish I’d have commemorated it somewhere! Oh well.

If you ever want to check out some great layouts, check out the Gallery Standouts Fingerpointing blog. It’s super fun! You can find it at www.gallerystandouts.com/fingerpointing

Happy Monday!

P365 - Week 2: January 8 - January 14, 2012 (2 pages)

As I thought about how I wanted to lay out my POTD this year, I did a lot of looking around at lots of blogs and galleries to see how others were doing their books. One of the blogs I was struck by was Jana Morton's blog. She commented that she wanted her book to be more complete so in 2011 she added some pages of bigger events that occurred for her family. I really liked that idea. With Shutterfly, my book is limited to 101 pages so I can't do all two pages spreads. What I'm going to do is add pages here and there at will. I think that'll be fun. I'm still going to keep the pages formatted the same for consistency, but I think it'll tell an even more full story of the goings on of the family.

I love my P365 project!

P365 - Week 1: January 1 - January 7, 2012 (a repost)

This is a reposting. I didn't change up the format of my POTD layout, I changed the colors. I decided I wasn't a fan of the brown tones (I did that last year and want my book to be different). I decided to go with black gray. I think the photos pop a bit more. What do you think?

Just the Girls - Girls Lunch!

OOOH the colors of Samantha Walker's Cuckoo 4U Mega Kit at Jessica Sprague ... I LOVE it! They're so springy and fresh. Such fun! {FYI, I also used Queen of Quirk's Scrappy Canvas Strippy template. Fun!}

Finally ... a way to store my Christmas cards!!! {Hybrid Project}

Thanks to all the wonderful inspiration on PInterest I came up with something to do with all the Christmas cards I get. I'm so excited! I made this cover, printed it at Costco on an 8x10 background, mounted it on thin cardboard (the kind that comes in the package when I pick up my scrapbook pages at Costco), punched holes in the cover and all the cards and then bound it all together with jump rings. Oh, and I included a 5x7 envelope to house the Christmas letters too! Easy peasy!

Sadly though the idea came just a bit too late. I'd been saving my Christmas cards for YEARS and just a couple of weeks ago I tossed 'em because I thought I'd never come up with something to do with them. I'm so mad at myself for doing that! Live and learn I guess. BUT ... I'm going to make one of these books every year from now on!

Lets not forget ... I used a wonderful collection of Christmas papers from Elle's Studios at www.JessicaSprague.com

P365 - Week 1: January 1 - January 7, 2012 ... My first LO of the year

It's my first layout of 2012. Yahoo! P365 here we go again ... year 3. I'm loving it. I'm not 100% certain this is going to my format for this year, but I think it just might be (maybe with a little tweaking). Anyway ... Happy New Year! Looking forward to a great 2012!

2011 P365 POTD - Cherish the EVERYDAY

Start your own Shutterfly Photo Book today.

P365 - Week 53: December 31, 2011 (This is it!)

This is it! My last layout for my 2011 Photo of the Day book. I've got to tell you, I love taking photos every day. Every so often I go back and look through some of the prior weeks pages and I just love it! So, here's my final page for 2011. I think after I hit "publish" I'm going to (1) page through my 2010 book and then (2) head on over to Shutterfly to finalize my book for print.

It's always hard for me to wait for my book to come back from the printer. I'll share a photo of the actual book when I've gotten it back!

Have a great day!

Just for fun I think I'll post the final page of last year's POTD book to show what a difference a year can make. Hmmm ... my kids seem to have gotten a bit taller!

Now to put some thought in to how I want to format my 2012 book ...

What We've Been Up To - December 2011

It's January 1st already. Happy New Year! This is my final installment of 2011's "What We've Been Up To!" ... I guess it's time to put some thought in to how I want to lay out the 2012 WWBUp2. I just looked back at my mini albums and I've been doing these little books since 2008. Wow. Time flies. I looked through 'em all and I really enjoyed taking a short walk through the years. This is a fun little project so I'm definitely going to continue it next year.

Happy New Year everyone!
