8x8 Photo Book - Family Memories | Summer 2013

What's a gal to do when she gets a coupon for a free photobook and she's only got a couple of days before the coupon expires? Why throw together an album of course!

A friend offered me coupon for a free Shutterfly book this week so I decided I'd put together an album of some of our favorite summer memories. The coupon expires today so I had to get moving! I really like theme albums to coordinate so I decided to use a template/style from Splendid Fiins throughout the pages. Since it's a book of random, fun summer memories I decided to stick with Splendid Fiins product for the entire album since her stuff is just so darn much fun!  I'd love to share my album with you!

Now I just need to wait to get the book back! I hate waiting by the way! I know. Patience! (NOTE ... all credits list at the end of this post.)

ANOTHER NOTE ... I just hit "Order" on my Shutterfly book. Apparently I didn't read the fine print. When my billing address matched a billing address I've used before on another Shutterfly account (my home address), I was told me I was not eligible to use the coupon. Darn! Oh well ... now I really like this book and I want it so I'm ordering it anyway!

Cute as a Bug! ... A Digi Morph at Pixels & Co.

What fun! I took part in a digi morph at Pixels & Co. What's a digi morph you ask? Well, did you ever play telephone when you were a kid? You know the game. One kid whispers something to the kid sitting next to them who whispers the same/similar thing to the person next to them and so on. In the end you see how similar/dissimilar the saying is at the end of the line. Well, that's the concept of a digi morph.

We had three teams. The first person on each team was shown the same layout, from there they find some inspiration from the page and scrap lift  it (using whatever struck them - color, design, patterns ... anything!). After they finished their layout they passed it on to the next person in line and so on. A digi morph is born! It's fun to see the transformation at the end!

Today was the big reveal. What fun! Want to try a digi morph? Keep an eye out in the Pixels & Co. forums; I'm sure we'll be doing another one!! I'm going to share with you my page (I was early on in the digi morph process) and give you a link here to see the "big reveal" so you can see the results/progression of the digi morph.

A City Girl At Heart - Traveling to Munich, Germany

Hmm ... it's Friday night. The hubby is on his way home from a business trip, my son is gaming online with his friends and my daughter and I went jeans shopping and I bought her a couple pairs of jeans and then she and I settled in to watch some TV together. TV time means that I scrap and watch TV (if I don't, it's guaranteed that I'll fall asleep and not see the show!). Well, now I just finished up a page! I just looked across the room and my daughter is sound asleep in the chair. I guess maybe she should have had a laptop out too! I guess the first full week of school has tuckered her out!

Anyway ... I love this photo I took of my daughter when we were on vacation in Munich this past June! It needed to take center stage on this page!

Onto a scrappy topic ... Gennifer Bursett just released a gorgeous new "Indian Summer" kit at Pixels & Co. It's a great kit with beautiful soft colors and some great wood-styled papers. I immediately thought it would be good for this photo/memory!

Father Son Golf Tourney

One more page tonight using a whole bunch of this and that from various kits. A lot of times I'm a kit scrapper, but sometimes not so much! It's fun to change it up sometimes.

We're Going to the Minnesota State Fair

Here I am again with another two page layout. This one is for our trip to the Minnesota State Fair. We had such a fun time! When we do bigger events - like the State Fair - I just can't bring myself to pare my photos down to fit a one page layout. There's too much I want to remember.

FYI, I created one more page already for the State Fair. That page included photos of my daughter and my niece on the Crazy Mouse rollercoaster. I created that page as a sample for a digi scrap challenge next month at Pixels and Co. so I'm going to wait to share that until the challenge comes out on October 1st.

Labor Day @ Cedar Point | Splendid Fiins Super Comic Panels

Splendid Fiins just re-released her amazing Super Comic Panels at The Lillypad today. I love these comic panels ... they're just so fun. I've used them on a couple of layouts that I'm going to share with you today.

The first is a two page spread from our Labor Day weekend up north a couple weeks ago. The second, I created a couple months ago to document some silliness between my hubby and my daughter. Just thought I'd share ...

A couple pages ... Highlights of Summer & Gone Shopping!

I've got a couple of pages to share with you today ...

I made this Highlights of Summer page using all product available at Pixels & Co.
I saw this template from Audacious Designs in the shop and thought this was a perfect way to note some of the highlights of our summer. Of course I've got individual scrapbook pages for these events as well, but it's fun to see them all put together so we can remember that we really did do a lot this summer and we had a great time!

This was a just for fun page. We were up north a couple of weeks ago and my mother-in-law and I took my daughter and one of my nieces shopping. It was a lot of fun - and very productive! Girls ... I certainly would not be spending this much time at the mall with my son. He finds the whole concept of shopping completely painful!

Working at Grandma & Grandpa's

My son spent a week this summer with his grandparents. (Actually he spent a week two separate times but I didn't get any photos from his first week there, so no page!) He spent the time with his grandparents and his cousin. The boys worked and did house projects for my inlaws. They got a lot done and had a great time in the process. Thanks Don & Marci for sending me these photos so I could scrap this page!!

Super Awesome - Donating blood with my son!

I want to share a fun page with you. To created this page with a bunch of awesomeness from Splendid Fiins. Her designs are all just plain fun!!

The story with this page/these photos is that I want to remember that my son and I have a standing date about every 56 days or so. He and I donate blood together and then we go out to dinner - just the two of us. Dinner alone with my teenage son ... what could get better than that?! OK ... him wanting to donate blood to save lives ... that's pretty darn awesome too!

Birthday Girl! ... It's time for the yearly "number" page!

It's that time of year again. My daughter's birthday is coming up. I'm a little ahead of schedule this year. Usually I'm scrambling to get this page done before her birthday and this time I'm early. Yup ... I'm patting myself on the back. Someone's got to do it, right?! LOL!

As a tiny note of background ... I've been creating a number page for my kids' birthdays for quite a few years now. They've come to expect and look forward to seeing their page. I pull out some of my favorite photos from the prior year and plop them in the number for the age they're turning. Then, when I'm really on the ball I pull out the prior year's number pages and hang them on the wall for their birthday party. It's fun to see the progression over the years!

FYI, for this page I used Gennifer Bursett's gorgeous Bubbly kit. I loved the soft colors and the balloons really caught my eye!

Here's this year's page:

And just for fun I'll show you the last two year's pages. I was thinking I'd show you some of the earlier years as well, but apparently I've archived them off my laptop so I guess not! Ha!

FYI ... I of course create the same type of page for my son for his birthday as well!
