My Germany Vacation Album is Off to Print at Blurb!!

You may have noticed that I’ve been pretty quiet on my blog for the last couple of weeks. We went on a big family vacation to Germany the last two weeks in June and since I’ve been back I’ve been intently working on completing an album for our trip. I’ve been really focused! Well, I’ve done it. I’ve completed all the pages to my book and I'm sending it off to print at BLURB tonight. (It’s a 12x12 book BTW.) Can I say I’m excited?! I’m so anxious to get this book back in my hands. So is my family and my mom who went on this trip with us! Sure, it’s fun to work on pages, but it’s even more fun to have the physical book in hand don’t you think?! I didn’t want to print out regular photos so that’s why I really wanted to get this book done quickly. I want to be able to share photos of our trip!

Before I share my pages, I wanted to mention that my family was a help in giving me ideas for additional pages to add towards the end of the book.I added a "We're not in Kansas anymore" page showing some of the things that were different over there; places we stayed; different modes of transportation; a compilation page of all the castles we saw (my hubby's idea), and four pages of photos of the four - or five - of us (my daughter's idea). Also, my daughter, my husband and my son each helped proof the book after I was done. I appreciated the help looking for typos and crazy lost staples! I also like that in reading the journaling they suggested additional stories for me to include on the pages. It was their trip too … I’m happy to add in memories I may not have thought of!

So, without further chatting, here are the pages to my book. It turned into quite a large book. Two weeks in such an amazing place makes for lots of photos! (I’ll include a list of credits after the photos.)

I kept my book fairly simple. I didn’t want to include many embellishments. I wanted it to mostly be photos and the story. The supplies I did use on these pages were pretty classic type items and included:

Karla Dudley’s Stamp Press Photos brushes
Audrey Neal Instaframes Vol. 1
Karla Dudley’s staples
Jennifer Valencia Photography’s Photography Quotes Wordart Sets 1 and 2
Scotty Girl Design’s Walt’s Park Elements
Nancy Rowe Janitz’s Textured Overlays (PDQ Vol. 9, 10 and 11)
Nancy Rowe Janitz’s This Day Brushes (date Stamp brushes)
Katie Pertiet’s Stitched Journaler Strips No. 2
Carina Gardner’s Well Traveled brushes

2013 Project Life - Week 28

I've been scrapping literally all weekend long. I've been working on my travel album for the trip to Germany we just got back from.  I've also been hanging out with my son (as he's had time for me) ... so I've enjoyed that a lot too! It's been one-on-one time for the two of us. I love that! It doesn't happen often. It's been a good and REALLY productive weekend! (I've got 15 2-page spreads done already for this trip. I'm psyched!)

This afternoon I "put aside" my vacation album and created my Week 28 Project Life pages. That's what I'm going to share with you now. FYI, I've used all product from Creashens at Pixels & Co. She had lots of spring colors to work with!

2013 Project Life - Weeks 25 & 26 (Our vacation to GERMANY!!!)

I just finished up my first step in the process of documenting our two week family vacation to Germany this past June. We got back about a week ago! This was such a big trip for us so I want to put some thought into how I want to document our trip.

First off I knew I of course wanted to include our trip in my Project Life book. I wanted to keep it as an overview in the Project Life book, BUT I didn’t feel like my regular two page spread per week would be enough, so I decided to dedicate one 12x12 page for every day of the trip. This allowed me to put the pages together somewhat quickly (we’ve only been back from our trip for a week so I’m pretty pleased that I’ve got this much done already!). The Project Life format allowed me to keep it at a pretty high level overview of the trip and still get down the basics. I * LOVE * PROJECT * LIFE!

My next step in documenting our trip is going to be to create a bound 12x12 book (that I’ll print at Blurb) dedicated solely to this trip. It’s in this book that I want to include more photos and more of the stories from our trip – the details. I’m really looking forward to putting this together. My goal this weekend is to decide on a general design theme and get it started! This book of course will take me some time to put together and that's OK!

One last thing I’ll do for this trip is create a few (who knows how many) individual scrapbook pages for my family album with random stories/photos from our trip. It’ll be on these pages that I’ll do my “regular” scrapping and play with the design more. That’ll be fun too!

I’ve got lots and lots of pictures to choose from so this will be fun! I took about 2,800 photos, my daughter took close to the same on her camera and my son snapped a few photos on my iPhone. I think I’ll have a good selection of images to choose from in putting these pages together!

So, without blabbing on any more … here are my Project Life pages …

2013 Project Life Weeks 24 and 27 (Catch up!)

Hi!

I've been off the grid for a couple of weeks. We were on a big family vacation so I haven't been able to create and post my project life pages. I'm happy to say I'm caught up again. Today I'm going to share with you my pages for week 24 (June 9-15) and week 27 (June 30-July 6). The weeks in-between we were on vacation in Germany and then this past week we've been at my sister's resort. Life has been crazy busy - and great! I've created a number of pages for our Germany trip (two pages per two page PL spread). I'll share those with you later this week.

For these two weeks I've used all digi products by Mye De Leon. I love Mye's designs and she has released a couple of new kits lately that I've just loved so I used them for these two weeks.

Week 24 used her new Puzzled kit and Week 27 used her new About a Boy kit. Check 'em out ... they're all available at Pixels & Co!

And here are closeups of the pages:
