I sent my spring break LONDON vacation book off to BLURB for printing last night. Let the waiting begin ...
I want to take a moment to share with you my design process for vacation albums. My process for designing my vacation albums has changed a lot over the years. For the last several years, and a few vacation albums, I've moved to a very clean and simple look - what I imagine a "coffee table picture book" would look and feel like. I want the focus of these albums to be simply on the photos and the stories of our trips. This style has the added advantage of allowing me to send my vacation albums off to print more quickly (and therefore I get them back more quickly!) because I've got one theme that I use throughout. It's a process that works very well for me. Each vacation album is certainly different from the others, but they have the same "clean and simple theme."
That being said, it is hard sometimes. I really enjoy the art of designing completely different pages for every story I want to tell. I am still able to do that though because I will definitely include London photos and stories in my annual family album. For the most part I will not use my vacation album pages for my annual family album. I will scrap completely different pages for those stories - and the stories I tell and photos I use will drive the style of page I choose to create. It gives me the best of both worlds, plus I get to have my vacation album in front of me as I decide which stories I want to tell in my family album!
I LOVE THIS HOBBY!
Before I go on, if you'd like to see more of the pages I create, follow me on my Facebook page: Barbara's Digital Designs.
So ... here goes ... FYI, this is a very image heavy post so I hope you have a cup of coffee in front of you! ;) NOTE: I've got a thick white border on every page, so that may not show up clearly in this post.
Following is the front cover of the book:
Following is the intro page of the album (I just changed it up a little bit to add a family photo and the border line):
And finally, following are the "guts" of my book!
And last, but not least, following is the back cover of the album:
Thanks for looking!
Barbara
