Random pages about my sweet daughter ... (Only a couple hours left to P&Co's Dollar Days Sale!)

If you follow this blog, you probably know that my daughter is crazy for baking. She dreams of being a pastry chef some day. She's really quite good! She's baking up a storm all the time. Any time we have an event and we need to bring something - or if people are coming over to our house - my daughter is always in charge of making a dessert. It's simply a given. Everyone knows that. About a week or so ago my sister and her family came over for dinner and my daughter decided for dessert she'd decorate a cake with a basket weave. It turned out great. Her gorgeous cake (and her dedication) needed a page, right?

NOTE ... Robyn Meierotto's In Stitches template is on sale for $1 only through today!

I saw this new template by Wild Blueberry Ink with the awesome hand drawn frames and I simply HAD to use it. I tried to come up with some photos I wanted to scrap and decided silly photos of my daughter would do the trick for me! I love her silly moods!

Summer - Just chillin!

Yesterday afternoon I thought I'd scrap some random photos. It's fun to scrap random photos!

For this page I used a new template from Mye de Leon and a great kit filled with beautiful blues and yellows by Karla Dudley. FYI ... Mye's template pack is still on the Dollar Days sale at Pixels and Company for only $1 (a buck ... what a deal). BUT, the Dollar Sale ends today!

Our family day at the Minnesota Zoo

It was a beautiful (albeit a bit cool) day here in Minnesota yesterday. We decided to spend a family day at the Minnesota Zoo. It was so much fun. My son actually was the one who suggested we go - so who could pass that invitation up? It has been years since I'd been to the Zoo. The kids were a lot younger the last time we went as a family, so it was so different going with teenagers. Much quicker ... but definitely fun. Since we had such a good time I wanted to put the photos together quickly. So ... here we go ...

2013 Digi Project Life | Week 30

I love Sunday mornings. For me Sunday mornings before the rest of the family gets up for the day is when I like to sit down on my favorite comfy living room chair, grab a cup of coffee (or two) and put my Project Life pages together for the week. My Project Life tip is to try and have a particular day/time set aside to work on your page for the week. For me it's Sunday mornings. I love it!

FYI, this week was a Splendid Fiins kinda week. I love her playful, cheerful designs!

January Card Kit

Time for some senior portraits!

This page was fun to put together. My niece is going to be a senior this year and asked me if I'd take her senior portraits for her. Of course I said yes. Who would pass up an opportunity to hang out with their niece and snap some photos, right?! I guess since I was taking her senior portraits she really isn't a little kid anymore. Hmmm. If she's going to be a senior, maybe that means my kids are growing up too. Stop. I can't think about that. My son is only one year younger than her. That means he'll be right behind her! Yikes!

I digress ... This page was fun to put together. I got a lot of really pretty photos of her the weekend we took the photos. Lots of pretty photos = a fun page to put together!

FYI ... I used some great digi kits/templates at Pixels & Co. I'll add a list of credits after the pages!

2013 Digi Project Life | Week 29

With my vacation album on order it was fun to get back to my normal scrapping routine. I wanted to finish up this week's project life pages before I put together my week 30 pages on Sunday. (How did we get to Week 30 already BTW?!) So, with that thought in mind I spent some time this afternoon putting together last week's pages/photos. I found I didn't have very many photos this week so it was kind of a stretch for me. I just made do with the photos I did have for the week. Do you ever find yourself without many photos some weeks like I do?

I used random bits and pieces from various designers for this page. I was just looking for bright and cheerful stuff for the week. Sometimes I like to kit scrap my PL pages, other times I enjoy random bits and pieces! I suppose it just depends on how much time I have and how the mood is striking me.

Happy Friday!

My Germany Vacation Album is Off to Print at Blurb!!

You may have noticed that I’ve been pretty quiet on my blog for the last couple of weeks. We went on a big family vacation to Germany the last two weeks in June and since I’ve been back I’ve been intently working on completing an album for our trip. I’ve been really focused! Well, I’ve done it. I’ve completed all the pages to my book and I'm sending it off to print at BLURB tonight. (It’s a 12x12 book BTW.) Can I say I’m excited?! I’m so anxious to get this book back in my hands. So is my family and my mom who went on this trip with us! Sure, it’s fun to work on pages, but it’s even more fun to have the physical book in hand don’t you think?! I didn’t want to print out regular photos so that’s why I really wanted to get this book done quickly. I want to be able to share photos of our trip!

Before I share my pages, I wanted to mention that my family was a help in giving me ideas for additional pages to add towards the end of the book.I added a "We're not in Kansas anymore" page showing some of the things that were different over there; places we stayed; different modes of transportation; a compilation page of all the castles we saw (my hubby's idea), and four pages of photos of the four - or five - of us (my daughter's idea). Also, my daughter, my husband and my son each helped proof the book after I was done. I appreciated the help looking for typos and crazy lost staples! I also like that in reading the journaling they suggested additional stories for me to include on the pages. It was their trip too … I’m happy to add in memories I may not have thought of!

So, without further chatting, here are the pages to my book. It turned into quite a large book. Two weeks in such an amazing place makes for lots of photos! (I’ll include a list of credits after the photos.)

I kept my book fairly simple. I didn’t want to include many embellishments. I wanted it to mostly be photos and the story. The supplies I did use on these pages were pretty classic type items and included:

Karla Dudley’s Stamp Press Photos brushes
Audrey Neal Instaframes Vol. 1
Karla Dudley’s staples
Jennifer Valencia Photography’s Photography Quotes Wordart Sets 1 and 2
Scotty Girl Design’s Walt’s Park Elements
Nancy Rowe Janitz’s Textured Overlays (PDQ Vol. 9, 10 and 11)
Nancy Rowe Janitz’s This Day Brushes (date Stamp brushes)
Katie Pertiet’s Stitched Journaler Strips No. 2
Carina Gardner’s Well Traveled brushes
